Tragedy as body found in woodland in search for missing man

A body was found in the search for a missing man near Wigan on Sunday (November 10). Emergency services were called to the tragic discovery in woodland off Boardmans Lane in St Helens.

Dennis Wyatt, 66, went missing on Sunday, November 3, when he was last seen on Park Road in Parr. 'Extensive enquiries' were being carried out by Merseyside Police in a bid to trace him.

The body of a man was later found by a member of the public at around 10.25am on Sunday in an area of woodland. The death is currently being treated as 'unexplained', with investigations ongoing. The body is still yet to be formally identified, but Mr Wyatt's family have been informed of the development and are being supported, police said.
