Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson Hon FRIBA (born 19 June 1964) is a British politician, writer, and former journalist serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since 2019. He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

Tory leadership candidates face off in ITV debate tonight ahead of next round of voting

Five Conservative leadership hopefuls are set to face each other in the second live television debate on Sunday night ahead of another round of voting on Monday.Former Chancellor Rishi Sunak, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, Kemi Badenoch, Penny Mordaunt and Tom Tugendhat all made it through to the third round of voting.Tonight’s debate on ITV will see the five remaining candidates debate with each other on the issues dominating the campaign in response to questions put to them by host Julie Etchingham. READ MORE: Scotland in 'suspended animation' until indy vote Britain’s Next Prime Minister: The ITV Debate will be broadcast live on Sunday 17 July at 7pm - on the eve of the next round of voting.The hour-long debate will take place at ITV’s White City studios, with all five candidates taking part.As well as broadcasting live on ITV, the debate will also be streamed live on the ITV Hub, as well as through the ITV News website, YouTube channel, Facebook and Twitter.The third round of voting by Conservative MPs takes place on Monday July 18.

The ballot on Monday and subsequent rounds on the following days will eliminate the contender with the fewest votes until only two remain – who will then go forward into a postal ballot of party members.On Tuesday there is s a third debate at 8pm on Sky News hosted by Kay Burley.By Thursday July 21 a succession of ballots should reduce the candidates down to two.From Friday July 22 onwards hustings are to take place around the country over the summer to help Conservative party members determine their choice for the new party leader and Prime Minister.READ NEXT: SNP government charters cruise ship to house Ukrainian refugees heading to Scotland Rishi Sunak claims Boris Johnson has 'good
