Top scenic destinations in Scotland named by Which? with stunning island at number one

The UK’s favourite scenic destinations have been revealed as part of a new Which? survey, including multiple picturesque spots in Scotland.The consumer watchdog has unveiled the results of its Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and National Scenic Areas survey, with almost 5,000 respondents rating their experiences of beauty spots across the UK.Locations were marked on eight criteria — peace and quiet, opportunities for wildlife spotting, visitor facilities, food and drink, scenery, accommodation, and attractions — with an overall area score then calculated.Among National Scenic Areas in Scotland, North Arran topped the results with an area score of 88 percent.

Survey respondents stated that the northern part of the largest island in the Firth of Clyde feels like "another world" with its "stunning" scenery rated five out of five.

Scottish Highlands glider pilot spots golden eagle beside him in 'spectacular' moment The region also received scores of four out of five for walks, peace and quiet, quality of accommodation, and opportunities for wildlife spotting — with the island home to animals including eagles, deer, and seals.Meanwhile, close behind in joint second place for Scotland in the survey are Shetland and Wester Ross, both with a score of 87 percent.

Shetland received a full five-out-of-five rating for peace and quiet, while the archipelago scored four stars in the remainder of categories.
