West Ham United legend Paolo Di Canio has claimed that Manchester United overpaid for Brazilian winger Antony and mocked his 'pirouettes' when attacking.
Erik ten Hag targeted the former Ajax man in the summer as he looked to strengthen the Reds' forward options. The Amsterdam club's manager at the time, Alfred Schreuder, was determined to keep hold of the 22-year-old however Antony made his feelings clear that he wanted to make the switch to Old Trafford.
Once a fee of £86m was agreed with the Eredivisie club, Antony immediately hit the ground running. Three goals in his first three appearances for the Reds pointed to him being a wise acquisition. Antony has persisted with his skills, and what some may class as showboating, despite his form hitting a tough period and coming under criticism for his tricks from the likes of former Man United player Paul Scholes and others.
