The best of Broadway will be honored this weekend at the 2023 Tony Awards! The show will go on, despite there being worries it wouldn’t happen due to the Writers Guild of America strike.
The WGA has agreed not to picket the event as long as the show goes unscripted, so don’t expect lots of scripted jokes throughout the evening.
Reports have said there won’t even be a teleprompter. Nearly all of the new musicals on Broadway will be performing throughout the night, in addition to some special guests who will take the stage. This pre-show will be co-hosted by Julianne Hough and Skylar Astin. The main show will air live from the historic United Palace in New York City’s Washington Heights from 8:00pm to 11:00pm ET.
