Tom Daley revealed a surprising update to his family life on Wednesday April 5th, when the Olympic diver, 28 revealed that he and his husband Dustin Lance Black, 48, had safely welcomed their second child together.
In a birth announcement shared in The Times, the happy couple revealed that they had quietly welcomed a healthy baby boy, Phoenix Rose on March 28th 2023.
The low key announcement read: "Black-Daley on 28th March to Thomas Robert Daley and Dustin Lance Black, a son, Phoenix Rose." They welcomed their first child together via surrogate, another little boy named Robert, back in 2018.
According to baby site The Bump, the little one’s unique moniker has origins rooted in Greece, and there is “no greater name associated with rebirth and transformation than the beloved Phoenix.” Typically associated with the mythological bird which continually rises from the ashes in a never ending cycle of rebirth, the name also holds the meaning of “dark red” and “crimson” - a subtle nod to the flames that the bird is typically associated with.
