Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has revealed that Top Gun almost happened without Tom Cruise. The Mission: Impossible star, 58, found new levels of stardom when he took on the role of Lieutenant Pete "Maverick" Mitchell in 1986 action drama Top Gun.
However, producer Jerry Bruckheimer has now revealed that Cruise was not always keen to take on the role of the fighter pilot.
According to Extra, Jerry revealed: "We were turned down by Tom Cruise over and over again." However, it was getting up-close and personal with the pilot lifestyle that appeared to change the Hollywood star's mind.
