A man arrested on suspicion of murder after an elderly man was killed in Trafford has been detained under the Mental Health Act.
The victim, aged in 80s, was found by paramedics in a critical condition at a house on Riddings Road in Timperley on Sunday afternoon (July 9) following a 'domestic disturbance'.
The Manchester Evening News understands the 'frail' man was struck with a weapon. He was rushed to hospital from the scene but died a short time later.
Greater Manchester Police launched a murder investigation. A 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder. In an update issued this morning (July 11), a GMP spokesperson said he had since been detained under the Mental Health Act.
