Tiger Woods has made a rare political statement to support George Floyd and appeal for an end to rioting in the USA. Woods became the first African-American golfer to win a Major at the 1997 Masters but has been reluctant to voice his views on social issues.
The 15-time Major winner, whose father Earl was a Green Beret in the US Army, has joined fellow superstars like LeBron James and Magic Johnson in speaking out. “My heart goes out to George Floyd, his loved ones and all of us who are hurting right now,” Woods wrote on Twitter. “I have always had the utmost respect for our law enforcement.
