This Morning staff 'furious' after National Television Awards invite snub

ITV staff at This Morning have reportedly been left reeling as they have failed to get an invite to the annual National Television Awards.

The event set to take place in just a few day's time on Tuesday next week, September 5, is 'slimming down' attendees.It has been reported bosses will only be allowing on-screen talent and senior executives of the breakfast programme to join the ceremony while behind-the-scenes workers will be forced to watch the evening unfold from behind their television screens.Those attending the glitzy event at London's O2 arena include 42-year-old This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby, new Great British Bake Off host Alison Hammond, 48, and presenting star 50-year-old Dermot O'Leary.

A television source revealed to The Sun the show is reportedly "slimming down" the number of people attending due to the cost of living crisis, but they seem to be "splashing the cash elsewhere.""People are upset at the slimming down as the show is such a group effort and the awards are usually a big night out for the whole team," the source said.It comes as the show has been under scrutiny over recent months following Phillip Schofields affair with a younger male colleague before he quit his role at the ITV morning show and lost a string of other presenting opportunities.Sources believe the cutbacks could be a result of bosses fearing the incident has shed negative light on This Morning and may affect their chance at scooping the Best Daytime Show award for the 13th year in a row.This Morning will be placed up against its ITV sister show Loose Women, popular quiz programme The Chase and BBC's The Repair Shop for the prestigious award.It comes amid various allegations there's a 'toxic culture' surrounding working
