This Morning has been dealt a crushing blow after failing to scoop the Best Daytime Show at tonight's National Television Awards.

Instead, BBC TV's The Repair Shop – a show where sentimental family heirlooms are restored by craftspeople – walked off with the coveted trophy during a ceremony at London's O2 Arena on Tuesday, 5 September.

It breaks This Morning's incredible winning streak which has continued for 18 years running, from 1998 to 2022. Collecting the award for The Repair Shop at the event, hosted by The Masked Singer's Joel Dommett, presenter Jay Blades said: "Well, you can cheer - go on!" as he took a picture of the winning presenters and production team.

He continued: "I want to thank everybody that voted for us," as well as thanking the production team and everyone behind the cameras, while also praising the other nominees. "We're the new kids on the block, and I've glad that we won this time," he said. The NTAs celebrates the UK's biggest TV shows and its stars, with the public deciding who wins – and loses – on the night.
