This Morning has dismissed reports that popular presenters Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond, who currently host the Friday slot on the ITV show, are “bickering” behind the scenes.
The duo replaced previous presenters Eamonn Holmes and his wife Ruth Langsford on the Friday slot earlier this year, with it reported that the new presenting pair are not getting on.
A source told The Daily Mail: “They came from very different backgrounds. Dermot has been a big star for many years and has presented some big shows, while Alison has always wanted a less high-profile career and has far less experience.” The source suggested that both of them may welcome a shake up on the show pairing them with a different co-host. “They are impatient with one another, mainly because they do things so differently.
It has led to on-set bickering and awkward tensions off-air.” An ITV spokesperson denied the claims and told OK!: “Despite the challenges of starting their on screen partnership during a pandemic, Alison and Dermot have developed a firm friendship and their chemistry has proved a ratings success.” The spokesperson continued: “Since the pandemic ended, the pair are now able to enjoy socialising together post the show and have enjoyed spending time with each other's families too." Alison, 47, revealed she was “looking forward” to her new prime time gig with Dermot, also 47, last year when they were rumoured to present together full time.
