This Morning bosses revealed today that Holly Willoughby was being paid significantly less than her former co-star Phillip Schofield when she first joined the programme.
Holly took over the role from Fern Britton who was said to have quit the show after learning that she was earning £250,000 less than her co-host each year.
Managing director at ITV Kevin Lygo was faced with questions at a culture committee meeting today, 14 June, where one of the questions put forward by the MP’s to Dame Carolyn McCall was on the subject of gender pay gaps.
It was asked whether or not Holly Willoughby had been paid less than Phillip since starting on the show in 2009, to which Mr Lygo admitted that Holly was paid significantly less than Phil and suggested this was because Phil was in a more senior position while Holly was just starting out.
