This Morning will be off air on Tuesday, 8 August as ITV1 shakes up its schedule to make room for the Women’s FIFA Football World Cup.The flagship mid-morning programme, which has been a staple on screens since 1988, will be replaced by coverage of the tournament, which is taking place in Australia and New Zealand.The final two rounds of 16 matches will be played tomorrow ahead of the quarter finals, which begin on 11 August.
Colombia and Jamaica are set to go head to head at 9am BST on 8 August, with the winning team set to face the Lionesses in the Quarter Finals.
At noon, France will take on Morocco to decide who will face Australia in another quarter final match. Colombia v Jamaica will be taking place at Melbourne’s Rectangular Stadium, which was purpose built for football and rugby matches back in 2021, while France and Morocco will play at the Sydney Olympic Stadium.The Lionesses are now the favourites to win the World Cup after defending champions, team USA, were shockingly knocked out during the second stage of the tournament.The other teams that have already made it through the quarter finals are Australia, Japan, Sweden, Spain and the Netherlands.
As the tournament hots up, it’s probably no surprise that ITV has decided to pull even its’ more well received programmes from the line up.This Morning has already had a difficult year so far, after losing long-time presenter Phillip Schofield in May.The ex presenter, who had starred on the show for more than twenty years, resigned after admitting to an “unwise but not illegal” relationship with a younger staff member.
