A group of customers failed to show up for an afternoon tea at a small independent cafe - and then CANCELLED their credit card so the business owner had no way of clawing back the £100 cost of the wasted food.
Cocoa Cabana is an award-winning chocolate shop with cafes in West Didsbury and Ancoats. When anyone books an afternoon tea at the venue, rather than take a deposit, the owners take credit card details to secure the booking.
This is only charged if a party fails to honour their booking or cancel within reasonable time. But the party of four failed to show up to a chocolate afternoon tea booking at the Burton Road cafe in West Didsbury on July 14.
They then ignored the phone calls from the cafe staff who were awaiting their arrival with the spread of cakes and sandwiches. Try MEN Premium for FREE by clicking here for no ads, fun puzzles and brilliant new features. The food ultimately ended up in the bin that night.
