Bankrate assessed the number of photos with location-specific hashtags across the UK, to see which prompted the most people to snap a photo.
The Peak District, Lake District, North Wales and Cheshire all made the top 20, beating anywhere in Cornwall.The highest ranking place within reach of our region was Portmeirion in North Wales, famed for its colourful jumble of buildings.The village ranked second, beaten only by Clovelly in North Devon.Portmeirion was designed and built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1975 in the style of an Italian village, and until recently was home to the award-winning Festival Number 6.Also topping the list, in fourth place, is Casleton in Derbyshire, a honeypot village on the edge of the Hope.
