Cops were called to Sandown Street in Abbey Hey at 4.30pm on Saturday (February 13), following reports of a gunman firing shots.

Police said two men wearing balaclavas and black clothing arrived in a white Audi Q5.The car, which was found abandoned around 45 minutes later on nearby Midgley Avenue, is being examined.People living on the street said armed cops were scrambled to the scene - and that a front door was 'kicked in'.

One resident, who has lived on the street for 38 years, told the Manchester Evening News : "It's a shock as it is not something that happens around here..
