Pressure is mounting on Manchester council to stop using bailiffs to collect debt - with campaigners leaving the town hall claiming a victory.
Community union Acorn and charity Debt Justice has been arguing that using bailiffs is costly and takes a toll on the mental health of people who cannot afford to pay.
They were invited to speak at a scrutiny meeting on Thursday (September 7) where councillors discussed debt collection and looked at changes to council tax support.
It comes after previous town hall meetings where suspended when protesters repeatedly interrupted proceedings as part of the Acorn campaign.
