Netflix's hit fantasy drama The Witcher has returned with its highly-anticipated third season. The series, based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s books of the same name, stars Henry Cavill as monster hunter Geralt of Rivia.
Part one of two released on Thursday (June 29) and saw the return of Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Freya Allan as Ciri. But season three will be Henry's last, before he's replaced by Liam Hemsworth from season four.
Henry, who's played the white-haired beast hunter since the first series in 2019, announced his departure in October. The official synopsis for season three reads: “As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. “Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. “They must fight back, put everything on the line – or risk losing each other forever.” Read on to find out how many episodes are in season 3 part 1 and for the cast list in full.
There will be five episodes in the first half of the latest series. Each will be around an hour long.
