The Weeknd has ended Roddy Ricch’s 11-week reign at the top of the U.S. pop charts. Blinding Lights moves up a spot on the new Billboard Hot 100 countdown, giving The Weeknd his fifth number one.
The track comes from the star’s new release After Hours, which currently sits atop the albums charts in the U.S. and the U.K.
Blinding Lights also gives hitmaking writer Max Martin a place in the record books – he co-wrote the track and now has 23 U.S.
number ones under his belt. Only Paul McCartney and John Lennon have more number ones as songwriters with 32 and 26, respectively.
