The UK's 'smallest beer garden' has been crowned and it's a tight squeeze

A micro pub's outdoor drinking area, which contains two deckchairs and a table, has been crowned the 'Smallest Beer Garden' in the UK.

The New Inn, in Yarm, Teesside, was given the title by Capital Breakfast, with landlord Ross Buchanan saying it was "probably the proudest moment" of his life.

Radio show presenter Roman Kemp awarded the boozer a cup after it was able to fulfil jokey criteria including "a wonky table, mismatching coasters and at least two plants".

The bijou bar was nominated by local listener Sam Riggs, reports Teesside Live. DJ Roman, 28, told his listeners: "All of this week I’ve absolutely loved what you’ve been sending in, because you’ve really been helping us out, we’ve been trying to find the UK’s smallest pub garden.
