Plans for the regeneration of Whitefield include aspirations for a new ‘heart’ for the town – including a new health centre.
Residents and businesses are being asked for their views on the latest plans to improve the town. The latest draft proposals follow visits from the government’s high streets task force, and put forward ideas for community led regeneration.
The plans how a new ‘heart’ could be created for Whitefield – in the area from the former library to the former town hall. A cornerstone of this would be relocating GP and health services from the deteriorating Uplands medical centre to the former library site.
Other plans include making Whitefield town centre easier to navigate, including the possible redesign of Bury New Road, and installing new crossings and signs to help walkers, cyclists and public transport users.
