Over the weekend, it emerged that Labour's candidate in the Rochdale by-election made 'deeply offensive' comments about Israel at a meeting last year.
Azhar Ali apologised 'unreservedly' for the comments, and the party stood by him - until last night (February 12). The Labour Party withdrew its support for Mr Ali in the by-election after 'new information' came to light.
This morning (February 13), the Mail Online published an audio recording of the comments made at what is said to have been a Lancashire Labour Party meeting.
Conflicting reports about the nature of the meeting have emerged, but one Labour source has said it was for local party members only.
