Manchester United fans have been left delighted after the club confirmed the signing of Lisandro Martinez from Ajax. Erik ten Hag has been looking to bolster his centre-back options at United and, after giving up on initial target Jurrien Timber, has now secured another one of his former players in Martinez instead.
The versatile defender, who is capable of playing at full-back or in midfield, has put pen to paper on a five-year deal until 2027, worth around £120,000 a week, with the option of a further 12 months.
It's understood that United have agreed a £46.8 million fee with the Dutch champions for Martinez, with an additional £8.5million to be paid in bonuses if certain performance-based clauses are met.
The 24-year-old arrived in Manchester over the weekend to sign his contract, though the move is still subject to the visa process, with medical and personal terms also needing to be finalised.
