A quiet road nestled in Ancoats has been named one of the top hidden gem streets in the UK, according to a new study. Anita Street, which features two picturesque rows of Victorian terraced houses, came joint first in a list of streets in the country which “you won’t want to miss”.
The symmetrical street, located behind Blossom Street and Oldham Road, is often considered one of the most photographed in Greater Manchester and has been shared in countless Instagram posts.
The neat terraces are still in their original condition, creating the sense that you’ve stepped back in time. Despite its photogenic qualities, the street actually has a rather dark history to it.
The terraces were constructed to help tackle Manchester’s housing crisis in the 19th century.
