Oprah Winfrey undoubtedly has a lot to be thankful for, but as she marks her 70th birthday on 29 January, we take a look at what she says has given her all that she has - gratitude. The media mogul and Oscar-nominated actress once famously said she wasn't grateful because she's "a gazillionaire", but her habit of practising gratitude was "the way I got to be a gazillionaire".
While she has almost unprecedented levels of wealth and success (particularly for a woman), she came from very humble beginnings and was raised by her maternal grandmother on a pig farm in Mississippi for the first six years of her life.
Despite the odds being stacked against her, she has gone on to become one of the world's most influential and powerful women - and has interviewed everyone from Tom Cruise and Barack Obama, to Whitney Houston and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Gratitude, and counting her blessings is something she takes very seriously, and she recently revealed she starts and ends every day by saying "thank you" for what she has. "I wake up in the morning, and the first thing I say is 'thank you'", she shared. "Even before I'm awake, even before my eyes are fully open." She said after doing the normal, mundane tasks of "letting the dogs out" and brushing her teeth, she then spends a few moments in silence or prayer "acknowledging that I'm still here".
