Ricky Dene Gervais (born 25 June 1961) is an English stand-up comedian, actor, writer, film producer, director and musician. He is perhaps best known for creating, writing and acting in the British television series The Office (2001–2003). He has won seven BAFTA Awards, five British Comedy Awards, two Emmy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards and the Rose d'Or twice (2006 and 2019), as well as a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination. Ewen MacIntosh had been rushed to hospital two years before his tragic death. The actor, 50, was best known to fans of BBC's The Office for his role as iconic character Keith Bishop.

Ewen's death was announced by his management company JustRright, as they revealed he had been undergoing treatment at a care home in Littlehampton.

The emotional statement read: "With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved comedy genius Ewen MacIntosh.

His family thank all who supported him, especially Willow Green Care Home. There will be a private cremation for family & close friends soon & a celebratory memorial later in the year." Ewen took to social media in February 2022 to reveal he was in hospital as he told fans: "Bad times for me I'm afraid chums.
