Seven boroughs of Greater Manchester have seen a week-on-week rise in Covid-19 rates, new data shows. The weekly rates have fallen in two areas, and rates have stayed level in one district.

Rates in Stockport, Bury, Trafford, Tameside, Wigan, Oldham, and Rochdale, have all risen. Stockport now has the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester, replacing Trafford. The lowest infection rate is in Rochdale, where the rate is 148.0 cases per 100,000 people. In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 199.8 cases per 100,000.

The infection rate in the region is lower than the national average, which is 330.1 cases per 100,000 people. A total of 5,667 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on March 3.
