Several ‘sky gardens’ in Greater Manchester have been crowned the winners of the National Trust’s inaugural Sky Gardening Challenge.
More than 100 residents took part in the pilot competition, open to those living in five neighbourhoods across the city-region.
With the goal of improving people’s connection to nature, the competition encouraged people to ‘green up their balconies’ and brighten up their window boxes.
Those who signed up to take part in April and May received freebies including seeds, peat-free compost, access to free workshops and socials and invaluable advice from the judges and National Trust gardeners along the way.
