New data has shone a light on schools with the worst truancy rates in Greater Manchester. It has revealed that the worst three schools for skiving in the city-region are in Salford.
Buile Hill Academy in Salford had the worst truancy rate of any state-run primary or secondary school in Greater Manchester last year.
Students there missed the equivalent of 11,905 days of school through unauthorised absences in the autumn and spring terms of the 2022/23 school year.
That’s according to the latest absence data from the Department for Education. It means that students at the Pendleton school had an unauthorised absence rate of 10.5 per cent, which is higher than at any other state-run primary or secondary school in Greater Manchester.
