The number of coronavirus-related deaths in Greater Manchester is around 2,500, latest figures have shown. The figures were released by the Office for National Statistics this morning.

They are based on the number of deaths registered up to May 23, where Covid-19 is mentioned on the death certificate. They are higher than NHS England figures released today - which show that as of Tuesday, May 26, 1,756 people have died in our region's hospitals with Covid-19 - because they take into account deaths which occurred outside of hospitals.
