The M.E.N. reported yesterday that a group of volunteers were set to hit the streets of Chadderton and Werneth, in Oldham, in a bid to tackle rising burglaries and thefts from cars.
But the proposed patrols, led by Mohammed Imran Ali - also known as Irish Immy - have sparked fierce debate across the borough, with some residents and politicians objecting to the plans.
