A country pub once dubbed a "lost cause" has been crowned the best pub in the north west at a national awards. The Cholmondeley Arms has been racking up the awards in recent years after its transformation under its current owners, Cheshire Cat Pubs.
The pub sits in the idyllic village of Cholmondeley in Cheshire, around an hour from Manchester. It is found inside the village's historic former schoolhouse.
Judges at the National Pub and Bar Awards hailed The Cholmondely Arms as "one of England's most unique pubs" in crowning it North West Pub & Bar of the Year at the annual ceremony this week. Writing on Instagram about the award, they said: "WHAT A NIGHT! We are honoured to have been named the regional winner for the North-West at last night’s National @pubandbarmag awards! "We are over the moon!
