The Co-op has ruled out making any more redundancies after axing 800 roles over the last year. The Manchester-headquartered group made 400 redundancies last summer and also cut 400 vacant positions in a bid to significantly cut costs.
But speaking to reporters after the group announced its full-year results, chief executive Shirine Khoury-Haq confirmed no more roles would be lost.
However the CEO did say there are still "opportunities for efficiencies" in the group after taking the "low hanging fruit" of making redundancies in 2022. READ MORE: Click here to sign up to the BusinessLive North West newsletter The comments come after The Co-op confirmed that its £600m sale of its petrol forecourt business to the billionaire Issa brothers and cutting hundreds of jobs helped boost its profits.
The group hailed a "strong operational performance" over the past year and said it benefited from "early and targeted action" against the tough economic backdrop.
