However, it looks like there is a destination in Europe that is the perfect budget-friendly getaway and it's less than a three hour trip from Manchester.
Recently, the annual Post Office City Costs Barometer voted Lisbon is the most cost-effective city break in Europe. According to the report, the Portuguese city works out cheapest based on a two-night weekend stay in a three-star hotel, including a visit to a museum, gallery, sightseeing bus tour, and public transport for the day.
