A venue which was named the best gastropub in the country earlier this week is coming to Greater Manchester next month. The prestigious Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs for 2025 list, which celebrates the best pubs across the UK that excel with their dining options, was unveiled this week - with Ancoats’ own Elephant Castle making it into the top 20.

But placing at the top of the spot, and also holding onto the title from last year’s list, was The Unruly Pig, which is based in Woodbridge, Suffolk.

Under the leadership of Chef Patron Dave Wall, it is the latest in a long line of accolades for the pub. Described by top food critic Grace Dent as being 'about as good as its gets', the pub's menu features fresh, local and seasonal British food with an Italian influence - lovingly nicknamed as unfussy ‘Britalian’ food - including the likes of Cromer crab tonnarelli pasta, iberico pork press and a 'crosta' cod loin, alongside an 'Be Unruly' tasting menu and a Sunday roast offering.

Just days after being named the best in the country, the pub has announced it is making its way to Greater Manchester - and will be taking over luxury Japanese fine-dining KAJI Bar and Restaurant, on Bridge Street, for one night only.
