For decades, Cheetham Hill has been synonymous with cheap fakes - it richly deserved its title: the counterfeit capital of Europe.
For price-conscious shoppers, it was THE place to go for a decent copy of a Gucci handbag or an Adidas t-shirt. The fact it was a trade that prevented funds going to the tax man or the holder of a famous trademark wasn't as important as the fact you were getting a bargain.
But 'counterfeit street' actually became far more pernicious: the tip of a criminal iceberg which was controlled by at least 32 gangs who were dealing drugs and exploiting the vulnerable.
And it was bringing one area of Manchester to its its knees.
