According to Vernon Kay, Tess Daly thought it would be "game over" with him in the early days of their romance, after his bank card kept bouncing on their dates.
Vernon, 50, told his BBC Radio 2 audience that on their first six dates, he couldn't pay for anything because he had no money.
He added that this began to frustrate Tess, now 55, so much that it all came down to date number seven. Thankfully, his card eventually worked and he was able to contribute, something which the veteran radio presenter is able to laugh about now, over 20 years after they got married in 2003.
