A Tesco shopper was allegedly left injured after they said they bit into an "extremely dangerous" item in a meal from the store.

Turning to social media to express their dismay to Tesco, the customer warned: "Extremely dangerous sharp piece of plastic that seems to break from the tray when cooking your Oriental Style Takeaway with Vegetable Spring Roll 500g meal." They claimed a 20mm-long shard of plastic "stabbed the roof of my mouth" and expressed relief that it had not been one of their children affected, saying: "God help you if this had happened to one of my children." An accompanying image showed the sharp, pointed object.

In response, Tesco reached out to apologise and invited the customer to direct message them with further details. Tesco has been approached for comment about the incident.

Another Tesco customer had an issue with a food item recently, when they were offered a peculiar substitution item. The customer ordered a green vegetable side dish but was offered as an alternative an apple crumble.
