This is the terrifying moment a flash flood swept through a housing estate amid heavy rainfall. Emergency services were called to the scene on Chestnut Drive in Youghal, Ireland, this morning after residents alerted them to huge amounts of water building up in the area, reports CorkBeo.
A 'dam', caused by a build up of debris that had washed down a ditch behind a wall, suddenly burst spewing out gallons of water.
A video taken by a local resident shows water pouring out from the base of a structure, with the ground quickly submerged by the flood.
It came after a whopping 52 mm of rain fell overnight amid Storm Babet, with widespread flooding reported in the town.Stacey Lewis, Youghal Area rep for Sinn Féin, lives in the area and says the flooding passed through some houses.
