Terrified mum with coronavirus has emergency C-section as medics make tear-jerking decision

Having a baby is a terrifying enough prospect without having to worry about infecting your own child with a devastating virus.

But this is the horrifying scenario for expectant mother Sabina, who has tested positive for Covid-19 and is struggling to breathe while carrying her baby.

With her oxygen saturation levels dangerously low, her obstetrician Maggie Blott decides the 36-weeks-gone mum needs an emergency caesarean to save her and her unborn child.

It’s the first C-section of a covid-positive patient that staff at the Royal Free Hospital in London have performed, which comes with a unique set of challenges, as shown on BBC's Hospital: Fighting Covid-19.
