It had wandered several feet from the shoreline and was struggling in the thin ice.A police officer started to remove his shoes and socks and was about to dive into the water, News 5 Cleveland reports.Two firefighters then donned Ice Commander Suits and braved the icy water.The golden retriever was put in a fire engine to warm up and taken home by its relieved owners.
Earlier this month, more than a dozen golden retrievers were saved from almost-certain slaughter in China by kind-hearted volunteers.
