Mary Killen has opened up about her decision to quit drinking after she was left ill for several days. The Gogglebox star, 68, caught campylobacter food poisoning, which can cause diarrhoea, cramps, fever and pain, and left her vomiting for five days.
She believes she may have gotten the infection from eating "grubby" vegetables. In the past she enjoyed a few glasses of wine five days a week, but she's given the habit up because the illness made her feel repulsed by booze. "Immediately afterwards, I found I couldn't face alcohol," Mary, who stars in Gogglebox with her husband Giles, told the Daily Mail. "I remember going to a house party on the Isle of Mull a short time later.
