Teenager stabbed in Tameside before Tesco Express taped off by police

A 17-year-old boy is in hospital after being knifed in Tameside. Police were called to Oldham Road in Ashton-under-Lyne following reports of a stabbing at a Tesco Express store.

The boy was raced to hospital with 'serious injuries', police said. No arrests have been made. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said additional officers will be deployed as enquiries are conducted.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses - or anyone with information. Images showed officers inside the store as darkness fell.

In a statement, the force said: "At 6pm this evening (Wednesday 1 January 2025) we were called to reports of a stabbing on Oldham Road in Ashton-under-Lyne. "Emergency services attended and a 17-year-old male was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
