Teenager killed in horrific crash following police chase

A teenager has died in a crash following a police chase in Rochdale. The 18-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene in Manchester Road, Sudden, yesterday evening (Tuesday).

Police say they began chasing a Toyota Aqua Hybrid after being called to a report of a theft of motor vehicle on William Greenwood Close, in Heywood, at about 9.15pm.

When the Toyota failed to stop, "a short pursuit took place" before the car collided with a Volkswagen Up in Manchester Road.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, the 18-year-old - a passenger in the Toyota - died at the scene.
