A teenager at the centre of a murder investigation was stabbed in the neck, an inquest opening has been told. Ibraheem Ali, 19, from Stockport, died after an incident in Levenshulme last month.
On Thursday (February, 23) an inquest into his death was opened at Manchester Coroner's Court. The hearing was told that Mr Ali, of Craig Road, Heaton Mersey, was admitted to the Manchester Royal Infirmary on January 23 'after he was stabbed in the neck.' "He was later transferred to Salford Royal Hospital where he sadly passed away a few days later on January 29" Senior Coroner Nigel Meadows said. READ MORE: Police tape off town centre after man's body is found Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said that the incident occurred on Stockport Road in Levenshulme at around 11:30pm on Sunday, January 22.
Mr Ali was identified by his mother, who is his next-of-kin, Mr Meadows said. He said he was aware a man had been charged following the incident, naming the suspect as Akbar Kafeel Khan.
GMP previously said Khan, 20, of Hyde Road, Gorton had been charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article and that he appeared at Manchester Magistrates Court on Wednesday, January 25.
