Teenage boy charged by police after woman allegedly raped in Edinburgh

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested and charged after a woman was allegedly raped in Edinburgh.Officers say the serious sexual assault was reported to have taken place at around 8pm on Friday, October 6.Local reports claim a number of police vehicles were seen parked outside a hotel on Leith Street, near the St James Quarter around the time of the alleged incident. Police Scotland say the male youth was due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, October 9.A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.A statement from the force said: “A 16-year-old male youth has been arrested and charged in connection with the serious sexual assault of a female in Leith Street in Edinburgh around 8pm on Friday, 6 October 2023.“He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, 9 October 2023.
