A teaching union has recommended to its members to reject a new pay offer from the Education Secretary which it labels 'insulting'.
The National Education Union has put this recommendation to its members in a ballot, which could lead to more strike action.
The NASUWT and Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) said they will ask for feedback from their members while the headteachers’ union NAHT said its national executive committee will consider the details before deciding its next steps.
The NEU said the offer amounts to a £1,000 one-off cash payment for the present school year (2022/23) and a 4.3 per cent consolidated pay rise for most teachers for next year (2023/24).
