A teacher who got pregnant with a pupil's baby acted like a high school "popular girl" and hung out with the other pupils during the break, a school insider has said.Rebecca Joynes was convicted last week of sexual activity with children, one of whom she became pregnant by.A court heard how the disgraced 30-year-old abused her position as a "cool" teacher, and sickeningly had sex with two teenage boys, named 'Boy A' and 'Boy B', who fancied her.The scandal reportedly created a ‘toxic’ environment at the secondary school in Greater Manchester, where “distraught” staff members say the teachers were no longer trusted.
One said: “They completely stopped trusting us”, adding rumours began to swirl that Joynes was buying alcohol for teenagers, whom she had invited round to her flat for a party, reports the Mirror.Another former staff member explained: “Rebecca never joined.
Even the near-retiring teachers would have had a drink.”Instead, Joynes behaved like a “cool girl” and was spotted chatting with female students about fashion during break time and “strutting” down the corridors while they cheered her on.The teachers said with hindsight, this kind of behaviour was “over-friendly”.Joynes was suspended in October 2021 after a report to Childline that she had sex with a 15-year-old pupil, who she bought a £345 Gucci belt for before taking him back to her apartment to have sex.The maths teacher then fell pregnant by a second teenager while on bail for having sex with the first.
