Charles Hanson, from Hanson's Auctioneers, confirmed that the novel sold at the mind-blowing price despite having a worn spine and being tattered.Shockingly, a perfect condition version of the special copy sold for just £18,000 more than the dog-eared one.

Charles shared a photo of the pre-loved book on Twitter, and said: “Last Friday in our auction a tatty Harry sold for £50,000 whilst a polished Potter sold for £68,000! “Never dismiss your 1990s collectables.“In this case cost price back then £10-99...
